Riley and Rachel were born on August 9, 2003 with Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV). CMV is an extremely common virus found within a majority of the population. However, when developing fetuses are exposed, serious birth defects and life-long disabilities can be the result.

Riley and Rachel have varying degrees of neurological damage, Infantile Spasms and seizures, cerebral palsy, hypertonicity/hypotonicity, hearing impairment, visual impairment, and feeding problems.
